Bass Sod Farm
Bass Sod Farm is a locally owned family business in the quaint little town of Gladys, Virginia. It all started back in 1921 when the Bass family purchased roughly 200 acres of prime farmland in the heart of Virginia.
Four generations later, with over 2100 acres, the Bass Family has toiled long and hard in Campbell County raising tobacco, cattle, wheat, soybeans, and, most recently, premium turfgrass. In 2005, brothers W.B. and Allen Bass set out to take the family business into a new direction by planting 40 acres of fescue turfgrass.
Today, Bass Sod Farm cultivates over 250 acres of sod including fescue, Bermuda, and Zeon zoysia grasses. What started out as manual hand stack labor quickly evolved to harvesting with automated machinery for faster turnaround time for the time of harvest to installation.
